Poppy appeal

Poppy was picked up a few weeks ago in East Sussex with a note sellotaped to her collar saying “My name is Poppy and I am 6”. The lady that picked her up from the side of the road could not keep her as she was in the process of moving house and her current dogs weren’t too enchanted with their new guest.

Poppy was adopted through German Shepherd Dog Rescue and on taking her to the vets for a once over a large lump and some smaller lumps were discovered on her mammary glands. Unfortunately due to it being a pre-existing condition, no insurance will cover it and no doubt this was the reason she had been abandoned in the first place.

We need to raise funds to help Poppy. Poppy needs to go under general anaesthetic and firstly have a chest x-ray as if it is cancerous and has spread it will head to the lungs first. They will, assuming and hoping it has not spread to her lungs, then remove the large lump and establish if it is benign or malignant. Depending on the results, will depend if the other lumps need to be removed or not under a second operation.

In total this is going to cost just under £1600. Anything you can donate towards helping Poppy have a new lease of life will be greatly appreciated. You can donate on line through Pay Pal (please mark it as “Poppy Appeal), or you can send a cheque to German Shepherd Rescue (please write “Poppy Appeal” on the back).

Many thanks and I’m sure between us all we can give Poppy the life she deserves.
